Corie Walsh’s attorney has shared a new update on her condition behind bars after she was arrested for the alleged killing of her 2-year-old son — a case her legal team says was fueled by severe psychosis and her reported obsession with Lindsay Clancy’s high-profile triple-murder trial. Shortly after she was arrested, Walsh pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder.
Walsh was arrested on September 1, 2026, after her son, Barrett Walsh, was found dead in the basement of their family’s Frankfort, Illinois, home. After Barrett’s body was discovered, Walsh was found in a bathtub filled with bloody water in what appeared to be a suicide attempt. Walsh remains incarcerated as her attorneys push for her to be transferred to a psychiatric facility.

Following Walsh’s October 26, 2026, court appearance, her lawyers told reporters that she is unwell as she remains in custody.
Her attorney Robert Kerr said Walsh’s ongoing psychotic condition is “pretty overwhelming.”

Attorney Andrea Lyon told reporters during a press conference that “psychosis is not a choice.”
“We are committed with our head, our heart, and hard work, to represent her to the leading of our ability so that everyone can understand what happened here,” Lyon continued, adding that Walsh’s legal team is also “learning everything [they] can about her psychosis.”
Kerr and Lyon are still seeking to have Walsh released from jail and transferred to a hospital for psychiatric treatment, though a judge previously refused the request earlier in September. Lyon previously told reporters that Walsh’s jail records had been subpoenaed “to see whether or not she’s getting the treatment she needs.”
Corie Walsh Texted Family About a Disney World Trip Hours Before Killing Her Son
Court filings paint a jarring portrait of the hours leading up to Barrett’s death. Just before the killing, Walsh had been texting her family about a planned trip to Disney World for her son, according to new legal documents obtained by the New York Post.
During her September 8, 2026, arraignment hearing, Kerr tried to explain that Walsh was a loving mother before she admittedly killed Barrett. Kerr said that Barrett had delayed speech and that his first words were “Bluey” and “Mickey Mouse.” Due to his love for Disney, Walsh allegedly “could not wait, she told her mother, to see [Barrett’s] face when he met Bluey and Mickey” at the park.
Walsh and her mother had started planning the vacation in January, per to Kerr.
“They reserved flights, rooms. They made dinner reservations. They obtained park passes,” he said. “And of all of her children — she told her mom this, Judge, hours before the incident…[Walsh] was most excited for [Barrett], given his age and his affection for these characters, to go to Disney.”
